Our curriculum actively promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and
mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Our RE provision is broadly Christian and, where required, takes account of the teaching and practices of the other principal religions represented in Britain, including Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Buddhism.

Our programme of assemblies helps to promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, providing opportunities for children to reflect.

Take a look at some of our work below.

British Values

Year 6 have divided themselves into  'Remain' and 'Leave' teams, each with a democratically elected leader to conduct a school EU Referendum. Over the last few weeks the teams have been canvassing opinions of the school community and presenting their manifestos.  The school community took part in a vote to elect their preferred candidate and campaign team.
On Wednesday 22nd June the returning officer announced the result to the school with Huw Merriman, MP in attendance. The 'Remain' campaign won a landslide victory with 123 votes to the 'Leave' campaign's 42 votes.

Queen's Birthday

In May 2015 we staged our own elections to mirror the general election, as part of learning about democracy and the rule of law in our country. Year 6 pupils formed five political parties, who then each elected a leader. The parties then worked together to create their manifestos, which they then presented to the whole school.
